Our School

On Behalf of the staff and pupils, welcome to Quarry View Primary School

We want to share with you the exciting innovations that make QVPS so special. Above all we want to encourage you to get to know us better and you can do that by visiting our site on a regular basis to view the current newsletters and the good work that the chidren really want to show you. We are proud of our pupils and therefore this is an opportunity to celebrate their achievements and aspirations.

Quarry View Primary is a large community school with 340 pupils (187 boys; 153 girls) on roll aged from 4 to 11, with 19.6% surplus places - above the Sunderland average of 13.4%. It is situated in one of the 10% most deprived Super Output Areas in England. It serves the Pennywell area of Sunderland; the City of Sunderland is ranked as the 22nd most deprived local authority in England.

As the head teacher I am also very proud of my staff. Their dedication to the children and the community goes above and beyond the normal school day. Our school motto states,

‘If it is to be, it is up to me'

and that is not just for the children. We all live by that motto as we strive to meet the targets imposed upon us and those we set for ourselves.

We aim to encourage self-awareness and confidence in pupils as independent learners by removing barriers to learning. This is significant within this area of high unemployment where a dependency culture exists. We aim to challenge our pupils to achieve and to aim high by giving them examples of good practice from within and without school.

School is a safe and happy environment which encourages success and beyond! Please read on and learn from and with our lifelong learning community.
