Reception
The children in reception are working very hard to complete their homework on time. This is down to the successful partnership the Reception staff have with parents. We are very proud of the support given to children at home and how conciencious parents are to ensure home work is complete.
Thank you
Reception Team.
Home Reading
Children are asked to return their home reading folders on a Monday and Wednesday. The children are expected to take 2 books home on a Monday to practise and 2 books on a Thursday to practise along with a reading book from our library to share with parents.
Tips for parents
When reading with your child try and encourage the following:
Find a quiet place to read together.
Encourage the children to point to the title.
Discuss the illustrator.
What they think the book might be about?
Who do they think the characters may be in the book?
Reinforce that we read left to right and that the illustrations can support reading.
Ask your child to read independently, word building where appropriate and encourage blending.
Once your children has read the book encourage them to discuss the story by questioning:
Why...?
Where...?
What do you think...?
Did you....?
How do...?
Literacy and Numeracy Homework
Each Thursday we give out a piece of homework which reinforces the concepts taught throughout the week. It is important that you support homework BUT DO NOT DO IT FOR THEM!
Try and encourage your child to write neatly and carefully, homework is an extension of school work therefore presentation is important.
