Year 2 SAT Information for Parents
So what are SATs ???
SATs = Standard Assessment Test/Tasks
The tests are national, all Year 2 children in the country will complete the tests
Your child will complete SATs in Reading, Writing and Mathematics
Teacher assessment will be carried out for Science
ALL CHILDREN IN YEAR 2 WILL COMPLETE A SAT TEST/TASK
What will my child have to do?
All children will complete the Level 1 tasks
All children will complete a spelling test
Children will have to produce two pieces of written work
Most children will take the Level 2 reading, writing and mathematics tests
Some children will take the Level 3 test
Why do we do SATs?
Throughout the year we constantly assess the children, the SATs are a nationally recognised test which we use to confirm our teacher judgement/assessment of the children.
How will SATs affect my child?
Tests will happen in small groups
Reading tests will happen 1:1
Writing will be produced through topic related work
Tests will take place in a quiet, friendly and unthreatening environment
How can you help?
Please ensure homework is completed and handed back in time
Read with your child and discuss what you have read
Keep up good attendance and punctuality, these next few months are crucial
Results!!!
You will be given your child’s SAT results in their Summer Report.
You will have a chance at Summer Parents’ Evening to discuss this with your child’s teacher
What do the results mean?
The grades for Key Stage 1 are…
W – working towards Level 1
L1 – achieved Level 1 and working towards Level 2
L2 – achieved Level 2 and working towards Level 3
Level 3 – working within Level 3
